Although 21376 Orange Cat is making its debut in 2026, the idea of a ginger cat is not a new one among the designers at the LEGO Group. Fan designer Damian Andres’ original submission was a Siamese-Birman cross that evolved into 21349 Tuxedo Cat, and now into 21376 Orange Cat, but there was discussion years ago about working on a ginger colour for the Ideas gesetzt.

“As soon as we started on this project, medium nougat was chosen immediately, beyond a few initial explorations,” said Model Designer Chris McVeigh during the reveal of 21376 Orange Katze at LEGO Fan Media Days. “From the get-go, we envisioned this cat as being medium nougat because it was the closest representation that we felt to the fur of an orange cat.”
Medium nougat was an option for a colour back in 2024, but perhaps it just took a fresh set of eyes to see the colour’s potential in 21376 Orange Katze.
